Chunky Music

Toby Armstrong is at home in the studio. From award-winning advertising and political campaigns to chart-topping music production, his unique sound and approach can be heard on projects around the world.  

After graduating from the Full Sail School of Recording Arts, Toby moved to New York in the late 1990s and cut his teeth working in Soundtrack Studios, Toy Specialists and PLP Productions. In 2001 he moved to the island of Barbados where he started Creative Junction Studios and CRS Studio. He then went on to join forces with leading Caribbean advertising agency, RED Advertising, building and running their in-house studio and producing award-winning work for clients throughout the West Indies and the Americas. 

His studio production credits include jingle and music production, radio promo production and audio post-production for TV Film and online content. 

In the private sector Toby has produced ADDY award-winning work for the region’s largest clients, working with Cable & Wireless and telecom giant Digicel since the early 2000’s, as well as a list that includes Virgin and British Airways, AT&T, Coca Cola, Mount Gay Rum, Clear Channel Radio, BBC, NBC and many more. He is also a three-time winner of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union’s Best Radio Commercial award and has contributed post-production elements to several ADDY award-winning Television and Online campaigns. 

Toby worked as a Studio Producer for several political campaigns throughout the Caribbean alongside Governments in Barbados, St Kitts, and Antigua. He also produced radio and jingle content for tourism promotional package campaigns for St Lucia, Grenada and Barbados. 

Throughout his career Toby has worked alongside several smaller businesses and become an integral part of their advertising success, building and designing radio and online campaigns for bars, restaurants and retail and media outlets throughout the region. 

As a music producer and musician, Toby’s work can be heard around the world. His music has been placed in several TV shows and films — such as Netflix’s “Ray Donavon”. He has produced, mixed, recorded and played on records with some of the Caribbean’s most prominent artists. His longtime alliance with Caribbean super producer Peter Coppin has led to several award-winning projects.
